Anusara yoga®

As an Anusara Inspired® teacher all my classes are taught with the Anusara’s Universal Principles of Alignment ™ (UPA) and methodology. To learn more about Anusara head over to their website.

Anusara means “flowing with grace” and is based on the tantric philosophy of intrinsic goodness, i.e. that you we are inherently good just as you are, and our asana (yoga postures) are a celebration and reminder of this nature. Classes are creative and seek to move not just the body, but to connect to our deep rooted knowledge of our inner goodness and auspicious nature, be that finding joy in the expressive dance of our Hatha practice, or connecting to the pulsation of our breath that expands and contracts with the pulsation of the universe (Spanda).

The UPA help to bring our bodies into our optimal alignment, which means we sometimes move at a slower pace to help find our bodies unique alignment - the UPA’s can be transferred into any style of Hatha (movement) yoga, be it a dynamic Vinyasa practice, a gentle Hatha practice or nourishing Restorative practice. Ultimately, when our bodies find their optimal alignment we are able to physically find strength, flexibility and move away from pain. Energetically when we are aligned, prana ( think, life force) can more easily and fluidly move around the body allowing inner harmony.

Beginners Yoga

In beginner classes we move slowly to look and learn  the fundamentals of most commonly found postures and breathing techniques to kick start your yoga practice!

Flow Classes

(Vinyasa) Flow - in Sanskrit, Vinyasa means to place with awareness. Flow classes link asana (postures) with the movement of our breath. Though slow paced flow classes are dynamic, which help develop cardiovascular fitness, stamina and endurance. Asana practice help to develop strength and flexibility and balance, as well as quieting our the mind. The dynamic nature of vinyasa flow means it helps to develop cardiovascular fitness and enhance stamina. Vinyasa classes are often described as ‘Moving meditation’ as we have to focus our minds on the present moment (where am I moving my feet, hands etc) as we move. Flow classes are anchored with connecting to the breath, when we slow down our breathing we stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system- also known as the body’s “rest and restore” mode- which helps to regulate our hormonal balance.

Flow 1 >> Open to all levels, although a little prior experience is recommended (though not necessary!)

Flow 1-2 >> Open to all levels, although prior experience is recommended, options will be given to explore more advanced / challenging poses.

Flow 2 >> 6 This is an advanced level class, not suitable for beginners. We will play around with hand balances and inversions as well as pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation. At least 6 months regular yoga practice required.

Pregnancy yoga

Take time to connect to yourself, your baby and more mums-to be. This nurturing class focuses on breathing techniques for labour, finding physical and mental space for you (and your baby).

Recommended for women who are 12+ weeks into their pregnancy.

Hatha

A slow paced but fluid moving class that will leave you feeling stretched and strong!

A mindful flowing sequence which aims to find our unique equilibrium in the body and mind by exploring the balance between effort and surrender in each posture.

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra, or ‘yogic sleep’ is a guided meditation to take you into a state of conscious and deep sleep. Through methodically sequenced breath + body awareness meditations to visualisations, Nidra unwinds the nervous system and induces complete physical and mental relaxation with inner awareness.

Kids Yoga Club

Let's ignite our imagination and learn yoga through Storytelling! Each week we'll go on a different adventure, practing Yoga poses, breathing techniques and mediations to keep us fit and healthy! We'll sing songs, have art "home work" (optional!) for a show and tell each week, and say hello to our fellow yogis on screen!

2.5years -7years

PARENTS PLEASE SUPERVISE YOUR CHILD THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE SESSION ... why not join in?! It's a great way to bond, be silly(!) and get fit along the way!

Chair + Gentle Yoga

This is a gentle yoga practice for all levels. Using a chair each class focuses on general mobility and breathing. Ideally you will have access to a chair with no arms on it, but if that’s not possible we can work around that! Some weeks we may work on a little bit of balance, but again with support from a chair/ wall for support. This is a FREE 30 minute class, and open to every age and ability.
