Do you want to try yoga but not sure where to start? Or sometimes feel uncertain about what you’re doing in class? Our Beginners Workshop will help you learn the basics to build a strong foundation for your future yoga practice.
Through individual, partner and group work, Katy will introduce you to some of the most commonly used postures (asanas), sequences (including sun salutations – surya namaskar), and breathing techniques (pranayama) found in many of our timetabled classes. We’ll explore our optimal alignment, modifications and how props can support us during our practice, so you can feel confident stepping out of your shoes and onto the mat.
This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners as well as those wishing to get back to basics.

Like many of us, Katy initially started practising as a means of exercise, and to find a place to escape the hustle and bustle of living in a busy city – but very quickly fell in love with the feelings of balance, strength and connection yoga instills. Katy is blessed to have studied with many wonderful teachers, and is especially grateful for the teaching and constant guidance from her teacher Bridget Woods-Kramer, who’s teaching (using the principles of Anusara Yoga), emphasises proper use of breath and alignment to encourage a safe and playful practice.
